Analyst weighs in on impact of Kuwait deployment ban

Resident analyst Richard Heydarian on Friday weighed in on the impact of the deployment ban recently enforced on overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to Kuwait.

He said some wish the ban was more "targeted" to a specific sector, instead of being a "blanket" directive covering all work fields in the middle Eastern country, a common destination for OFWs.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III has announced an OFW deployment ban to Kuwait shortly after a Filipina worker was found dead in a freezer in an uninhabited apartment there.

Reports of abuses, some leading to deaths, of OFWs in the country have also recently surfaced, earning Kuwait the ire of President Rodrigo Duterte.
