President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed one of his party-mates as the new chairman of the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP), whose former head was fired over excessive" foreign trips.

Noel Felongco, whose appointment papers were signed on February 1, replaces Terry Ridon, who was fired by Duterte last December for traveling abroad for "unnecessary junkets" at least seven times since he was appointed.

Felongco is a former underscretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and once served as president of PDP-Laban Central Visayas chapter.

Duterte also appointed Romeo Jandugan as PCUP commissioner, two months after the President fired four PCUP commissioners for allegedly failing to meet as a collegial body.

Meanwhile, Ferdinand Bocobo was picked as a member of the consultative committee that will review the 1987 Constitution. — MDM, GMA News
