SC justices’ statement on CJ Sereno’s indefinite leave

Supreme Court Public Information Office chief Theodore Te on Thursday read the statement of 13 SC justices regarding the indefinite leave of Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

According to the statement, the 13 justices present during deliberations on Tuesday "arrived at a consensus that the Chief Justice should take an indefinite leave."

"The Court En Banc considers Chief Justice Maria Lourdes P. A. Sereno to be on an indefinite leave starting March 1, 2018," the statement said.

Senior Associate Justice Antonio T. Carpio was named acting chief justice.
