Albayalde wants provincial, city police directors to conduct surprise inspections

Newly-installed Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Oscar Albayalde on Thursday said he wants provincial and city police directors to conduct surprise inspections.

“As much as I enjoy conducting surprise inspections, I may not be able to reach all of our 2,766 police stations nationwide,” Albayalde said during his speech in the PNP change of command ceremony.

“So I expect our Provincial and City Directors to conduct these surprise inspections to regularly assess the operational readiness of our forces on the ground. I will be accessible 24/7 and I expect all our commanders to be accessible anytime of the day too,” he added.

Previously head of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Albayalde is known for his surprise visits to police stations around the Metro Manila even on the wee hours of the morning.

On Thursday, he said he will “set high expectations for performance” but vowed that he will be “fair and just.” —KBK, GMA News
