PNP chief denies report C4 explosive caused Glorietta blast

Philippine National Police Director General Avelino Razon Jr on Saturday dismissed claims that a powerful explosive C4 caused Friday's blast at the Glorietta shopping mall in Makati City. “Pinapabubulaan po namin ‘yan. Wala po akong sinabing gano’n. Hindi pa po natin alam kung ano ang components ng bomba (We are denying such claims. I didn’t say anything like that. We don’t know yet the components of the bomb)," said Razon in an interview with radio dzBB. The powerful blast, believed to be caused by a bomb, rocked the crowded mall about 1:30 p.m, killing at least nine people and injuring more than a hundred others. The explosion caused extensive damage throughout the Glorietta 2 shopping complex, toppling roofs, destroying walls, and sending debris crashing onto cars outside. The blast triggered travel advisories from the United States, United Kingdom and Canada, warning their nationals against "terror threats" in the Razon also appealed to the critics of the Arroyo administration to be cautious in their statements. “Sana naman ay maging maingat tayo sa pagbibitaw ng salita, dapat based on facts or evidence…We cannot make conjectures." He said that those who were claiming that the blast was caused by a C4 explosive and was done by the government as a diversionary tactic “are doing our people a disservice to prop up their own selfish political interest." - GMANews.TV
