Shoppers mob, take selfies with Duterte in upscale mall

Shoppers at Greenbelt 5 in Makati City were caught by surprise on Saturday evening when President Rodrigo Duterte dropped by the upscale mall to visit a luxury watch store.

The mall visit reportedly took place after he attended the closing dinner of the 51st Asian Development Bank Annual Meeting in Mandaluyong City.

Surrounded by members of the Presidential Security Group, Duterte was seen inside the Jaeger LeCoultre branch, a Swiss luxury watch and clock manufacturer, based on photos and videos circulating online.

The President also accommodated shoppers who wanted to take a photo with him.

It was not the first time Duterte visited the same mall since he became the country’s most powerful man in mid-2016.

Last December, the President went to Greenbelt 5 to buy a backpack where he can keep his gun magazines.
