NAPOLCOM OKs promotion of 745 cops who helped liberate Marawi
The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) on Monday confirmed the special promotion of 745 police personnel who served during last year's bloody Marawi siege.
NAPOLCOM Vice-Chairman and Executive Officer Atty. Rogelio Casurao made the confirmation after the approval of Resolution No. 2018-206, which proposed the promotions, on May 9.
This follows Senior Superintendent Rolando Anduyan's promotion to Police Chief Superintendent (one-star rank) on January 14 following another recommendation, Resolution No. 2017-636, made on December 13, 2017.
“The courage displayed by these valiant police officers earned themselves not only the admiration of the members of the PNP but also of the people they had sworn to serve,” Casurao said.
Special Action Force (SAF) had the most promotees at 437, followed by Police Regional Office (PRO) ARMM at 163; PRO 10 at 91; Maritime Group (MG) at 16.
PRO 11 had nine promotees, while six came from Communications and Electronics Service (CES), four from Health Service (HS) and Crime Laboratory Group (CLG), and two from PRO 6 and PRO COR.

Under Section 38 (b) of RA 6975, as amended by Section 33 (b) of RA 8551, any uniformed member of the PNP who has exhibited acts of conspicuous courage and gallantry at the risk of his/her life above and beyond the call of duty shall be promoted to the next higher rank, provided, that such acts shall be validated by the Commission based on established criteria. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
