Mocha Uson will apologize to Kris Aquino over Ninoy bashing, says Bong Go

Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson will apologize to actress Kris Aquino who slammed the Palace official for dragging her late father into the controversy involving President Rodrigo Duterte’s kiss to a Filipino woman in South Korea.

Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go made the statement on Wednesday after discussing the issue with Uson.

Go said he was not sure whether Uson's apology would be public.

“We all agreed to put this issue to rest out of respect to all our fellow Filipinos. I believe that politics should not divide us,” he said.

Go said he and the President apologized to Aquino who accused Uson of besmirching the legacy of her parents just to defend the President from attacks on his latest behavior towards women.

Aquino got incensed by Uson’s social media post showing a video of her late father, former Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr., receiving a kiss from two women on board a plane before he was gunned down on August 21, 1983.

Go said Uson told him that the intention of the video was to show that both Duterte and Ninoy Aquino are “well loved” by Filipinos.

“Kaya lang sabi ko kay Mocha iba ang emosyon ni Ma’am Kris Aquino. Nasaktan siya dahil sabi niya naalala niya ‘yung pagkamatay ng kanyang mga magulang. Hindi man lang niya nayakap nung huling sandali,” he said.

“Sabi ko intindihin na lang natin si Kris Aquino ukol dito.”

Uson is due to return to the Philippines late Wednesday evening from South Korea where Duterte had a three-day official visit and a summit with South Korean leader Moon Jae In. —NB/RSJ, GMA News
