The Makati City government ordered Wednesday a new round of inspections of the buildings in the Glorietta shopping complex, to see if last Friday’s blast had weakened their structure. Radio dzBB reported that city councilor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun" Binay warned that city hall will not hesitate to close the entire complex if an inspection finds the structure to have weakened. Binay said the city government will enlist the services of professional structural engineers to inspect the buildings inside the complex. If defects are found, he said a closure order on the entire complex will follow. A devastating blast at the Glorietta 2 complex killed at least 11 persons and wounded more than 100 others last Oct. 19. Two days later, a fire hit a restaurant at the Glorietta 4 complex, but firefighters and police said it was not related to the blast. Police said their investigation showed the blast was an accident caused by a gas explosion. - GMANews.TV
