This morning, I proudly accompanied my brother Chet as he registered at the Comelec. It took us many, many heart-to-heart talks throughout some time to finally come to this decision. And we made sure that when we came to it, it was with all our hearts and souls. Only with the spirit to serve honestly and with our father Pablo’s legacy in mind. Cesar “Chet” Cuneta is running for Mayor of Pasay City. I pray that if you are living in Pasay and reading this, I pray that God touch your heart and support him in these coming elections. I will be 110% behind him, beside him. He is giving up his 32 years of his career as a hard-working pilot to serve the people of Pasay City. He will make sure na ang lahat ng kikitain ng Pasay ay mapupunta sa pagpaganda, pagpapaunlad ng Pasay, at sa mga TAO NG PASAY. AKO MISMO AY KASAMA NIYANG MAGBABANTAY. God bless you all and thanks so much! We love you. Kuya Chet & Sharon.

Sharon said her brother was giving up 32 years of being a pilot to serve the residents of Pasay City.

"We may not see eye to eye with how we regard the current administration but I respect his decision to run for Pasay City mayor as part of the administration ticket. I wish him well," Pangilinan said in a statement.

The senator vowed to remain committed to his obligation to act as a "check and balance to the administration."

"We will continue to speak out and remain critical of policies we believe are detrimental to the national interest such as EJKs (extrajudicial killings) and the abuses committed in the drug war, corruption in government, and the pivot to China, among others," Pangilinan said.

"I remain committed to strengthening our ranks and to working for a prosperous and peaceful Philippines," he added. —Anna Felicia Bajo/NB, GMA News
