Ombudsman Morales spends last day in office with ‘official family’
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales on Wednesday spent her last day as the government’s lead anti-corruption watchdog with her official family.
The Office of the Ombudsman hosted a final lunch between Morales and her employees, and a retirement party in her honor at a hotel in Quezon City.

In her speech at the party, Morales thanked officials and employees of the anti-graft court body for their support during her seven-year term.

Morales is the first Ombudsman to complete her term since Aniano Desierto retired in October 2002.
Her predecessor, Merceditas Gutierrez, resigned from the post in 2011 after the House of Representatives voted to impeach her, while Simeon Marcelo resigned in 2005 after three years at the helm due to health reasons. — MDM, GMA News
