PNP knows where ex-lawmakers are hiding, arrests are coming —Durana
The Philippine National Police already has leads on the whereabouts of former lawmakers and government officials ordered arrested by court for alleged murder charges.
Quoting PNP spokesman Senior Superintendent Benigno Durana, Super Radyo dzBB's Benjie Liwanag said Friday on "Dobol B sa News TV" that with their leads, authorities are ready to serve the warrants for the arrest of three former officials, one incumbent, 14 others.
Palayan Nueva Ecija Regional Trial Court had issued warrants for the arrest of former Bayan Muna Representatives Satur Ocampo and Teddy Casiño; former Department of Agrarian Reform Secretary Rafael Mariano; National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) Lead Convenor Liza Maza, as well as Eugenia Magpantay, Vicente Cayetano, Delfin Pimentel, Emeterio Antalan and 1o other John Does.
The arrest warrants stemmed from the alleged murder of two supporters of rival party-list group, Akbayan, in 2003 and 2004. The court found probable cause to indict them. The case that has already reached Supreme Court after the respondents questioned the decision of the Nueva Ecija RTC.
NAPC's Maza last August 1 broke her silence and said she is not hiding, but only taking taking steps to ensure her safety and security.
“This is a sinister plot na ibalik yung napakatagal nang kaso. Napakalinaw naman na ito ay gawa-gawa lamang kaya ako medyo nag-aalala rin ako dun sa aking kaligtasan, sa aking safety, noh?" she said. —LBG, GMA news
