President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday lamented the involvement of law enforcers in illegal drugs as he repeated his vow to dismantle the narcotics trade during his term.

Explaining the gravity of the drug problem, Duterte said even policemen and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) personnel in Cebu are drug addicts.

“The Cebu police are all addicts, even your officials and your PDEA. Imbes na mataas na ang rango ng p— ina niya, he’s the distributor [of illegal drugs],” he said in a speech before local chief executives in Cebu City.

“That’s treason. If you are with PDEA, with the military and the police nandiyan ka, that is treason. It’s the highest form of infidelity that you can commit against your country,” he said.

Duterte warned authorities involved in the illegal drug trade of consequences if they refuse to stop their activities.

“You can enjoy a life of luxury, buy the things that you never had when you were young. Buy the things that you crave for because you could not pay. You could not afford it ever since. And enjoy it because it will come to you I assure you,” he said.

The President then dropped an expletive-laden tirade against Daanbantayan, Cebu Mayor Vicente Loot, a former police official Duterte has accused of involvement in illegal drugs.

“Kasayang ang pagka-PMAer [Philippine Military Academy graduate] mo. Gastos ng tao tapos you keep on denying. Ilang beses ka na inambush? Matatag ka talaga. T— ina mong Loot ka,” Duterte said.

Loot has since denied any involvement in the illegal drug trade, saying he is a victim of black propaganda.

Also in Duterte’s speech, the President said there will be no let up in his campaign to rid the country of illegal drugs despite accusations hurled by human rights group about extrajudicial killings of drug suspects.

“I will not allow my country to go to the dogs. You will never succeed as long as I am President. Ubusin ko talaga kayo,” he said, adding he is ready to go to jail for his anti-illegal drugs policy.

Duterte also advised women not to date men into illegal drugs.

“If you are in love with an addict, leave him. He's not a man. He's a coward and he's an idiot. You will have a husband who is an idiot,” he said.

“‘Yung totoo, kayong mga babae na teenager, listen to me. 'Yung boyfriend niyo nagma-marijuana, you think that it’s the vogue? It's the fad? You think it's fashionable? Wala, hindi 'yan lalaki, maniwala ka.” — RSJ, GMA News
