Senator Paolo Benigno Aquino IV on Wednesday chided Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos for telling the critics of her family to move on from the hate caused by the dictator's imposition of martial law.

Aquino, nephew of the late opposition leader Benigno ‘Ninoy’ Aquino Jr., said those who caused pain in relationships were usually the ones that tell the other person to move on.

The slain former senator was killed upon his return to the Philippines on August 21, 1983, a murder that many blamed on Marcos' father, the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos.

Aquino said in a press statement.

Marcos was quoted as saying that the issue between her family and the Aquinos should no longer be dug up.

She added that since millennials had moved on, other people should do so too.

Aquino, however, said that it was difficult to move on because the Marcoses had yet to acknowledge their responsibility for the corruption and human rights violations under the dictatorship.

—NB, GMA News
