Furred heroes had their day in the spotlight after the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) recognized the members of its K9 unit for their contributions in the agency's anti-illegal drug operations.
As seen in a report on Balitanghali, the K9 dogs were lauded as they stood by their trainers in a ceremony in Antipolo City on Monday.
PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino thanked the service dogs for their part in uncovering P6.8-billion worth of shabu allegedly contained in four magnetic lifters in Cavite last August.
Aquino noted that PDEA bought an additional 100 K9 dogs to be trained for six months and announced the opening of a training program for aspiring K9 handlers for 2019. — Rie Takumi/BM, GMA News
