Koko counters Marcos, Enrile claims on Martial Law: It happened, binisita ko ang tatay ko sa kulungan

Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III on Friday countered the claims made by former senators Bongbong Marcos and Juan Ponce Enrile about Martial Law during the regime of Bongbong's father, former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

Marcos and Enrile in a video released on social media alleged that the memory of the late President Marcos and his regime have been unfairly maligned.

Pimentel said that he has yet to watch the video in full, but cautioned against believing in alternate versions of history being presented as absolute truth.

“Hindi ako madaling mapaniwala sa ganiyang mga salita dahil may personal experience ako,” Pimentel said, citing his visits to his father, former Senate President Aquilino Pimentel Jr, when the elder Pimentel was incarcerated in three separate occasions during the Martial Law years under President Marcos.

"Binibiista ko ang aking tatay sa Bicutan [Taguig] at isang building sila doon. Nabisita ko rin siya sa isang military camp sa Cebu City. Plus iyong sa tagal ng panahon sa bahay nila sa Cagayan de Oro under house arrest," he said.

Pimentel added that the recent revision is proof that the memorial set to be built on the grounds of the University of the Philippines-Diliman campus is a timely project.

Pimentel joined UP President Danilo Concepcion and other leaders in the signing of the agreement to build the memorial in honor of the victims of Martial Law. — MDM, GMA News
