Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo seems undeterred by the 19-percent trust rating she recently received based on the the results of the latest Pulse Asia survey.

A statement from the Office of the Speaker said Arroyo's approval rating is on an "upswing," and the level of distrust is diminishing.

When Pulse Asia conducted the same survey in March 2010, three months before Arroyo left the presidency, she received an approval rating of 14 percent, with 27 percent undecided and 59 percent disapproval.

In the July 2010 Pulse Asia survey, meanwhile, Arroyo got a 16-percent approval rating with 22 percent undecided and 62 percent disapproval.

"[But] in the latest Pulse Asia survey, the first one after she left the presidency in June 2010, her Approval Rating went up to 19 percent with 37 percent Undecided and 43 percent with Small/No Trust," the statement read.

While Arroyo has always been unmoved by survey results, the statement said she considers them as a "snapshot" of the sentiment of the public.

"When she was president, she would not let surveys define her work," the statement read.

"As Speaker, however, she remains focused and committed to what needs to done at the House of Representatives to carry out the legislative agenda of President [Rodrigo] Duterte," it added.

Meanwhile, both Duterte's approval and trust ratings went down by double digits in the latest Pulse Asia survey, dropping to 75 percent in September from June's 88 percent. — Erwin Colcol/RSJ, GMA News
