DLSU joins UP in Times World University Rankings 2019

The University of the Philippines (UP) made it again to the list of top universities around the world for 2019, this time joined by De La Salle University (DLSU).

UP was ranked between 501 to 600 while DLSU ranked between 801 and 1000 on Times Higher Education's (THE) World University Rankings 2019.

The state university was the only Philippine university to have made THE's world rankings in 2017 and 2016.

It also placed 156th in the top 200 universities in THE's Asia University Rankings earlier this year.

Tsinghua University in China became the top university in Asia, overtaking the National University of Singapore by one rank on world rankings after rising eight places to 22nd.

In the overall rankings, the University of Oxford in the UK was hailed the top university in the world, followed by University of Cambridge.

Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and California Institute of Technology in the US completed the top five.

THE is a publication focused on higher education and a leading data provider on universities. It began publishing its annual university ranking list in 2004.

The World University Rankings ranks the top 1,000 universities around the world using 13 performance indicators grouped into five categories: teaching, research, citations, industry income and international outlook. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
