DOT: Boracay establishments can’t make bookings until fully compliant
The Department of Tourism (DOT) reminded all accommodation establishments in Boracay that they are not allowed to make any room bookings starting October 26 unless they complete all their requirements with the government.
In an advisory issued Saturday, the DOT said all accommodation establishments that are still not compliant with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and are not accredited with the DOT are "strongly advised to cease and desist from making room bookings or sale for occupancy."
This will be in effect starting October 26, 2018 — the island's "soft opening" — onward until all requirements for opening their establishments are in order and complete.
Businesses are also advised to delete or put on hold all online promotions and other related collateral until their compliance with government regulations are complete.
The advisory came as the island is two weeks away from a soft reopening after being closed off to tourists since April 26 to make way for the government's rehabilitation efforts. — MDM, GMA News
