Former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile on Wednesday shrugged off the request of Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba for the Office of the Ombudsman to seek the revocation of his bail bond in his pork barrel scam case.

“I will not waste my time on him or any person like him. Kaaway niya lahat ng tao. I have nothing else to say,” Enrile told GMA News Online.

Mamba had said the Ombudsman should block the temporary freedom of Enrile as the 94-year-old seeks a seat in the Senate anew despite his claims of a frail state of health.

"Seeking a seat in the Senate necessarily entails a nationwide campaign that even a healthy person will find strenuous. This only proves that Juan Ponce Enrile falsely appealed to the Supreme Court's pity to gain the relief of bail," Mamba said in his October 23 letter.

Apart from Mamba, former Buguey Mayor Ignacio Taruc is also a signatory in the letter.

Enrile, however, said Mamba is not a medical practitioner to judge his health condition. He also urged the governor to look into his medical records.

“He can check my medical history in Makati, in Makati Med where I nearly died of pneumonia. He is not a doctor anyway,” Enrile said.

The plunder case of Enrile at the Sandiganbayan is still at the marking of evidence stage.

In contrast, the same cases of his former Senate colleagues Jinggoy Estrada and Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. are already in the trial stage and pending decision, respectively.

Both are also seeking Senate seats anew. — RSJ, GMA News
