Trillanes welcomes gov't probe on his parents
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Tuesday welcomed the investigation on the alleged business transactions of his parents as bared by President Rodrigo Duterte the previous day.
"I welcome Duterte's statement on probing supposed transactions of my deceased father (PMA Class '59 retired in 1988 and died in 1998) and my 84-year-old mother," Trillanes said in a press statement.
The opposition senator also reiterated that he will voluntarily yield himself to authorities if anything illegal is unearthed during the investigation.
"In fact, I'll raise the ante. If he finds anything anomalous, again, I would voluntarily walk into any detention facility kahit sa Davao pa," Trillanes said.
In the same statement, Trillanes urged Duterte to exert effort to look for the drug lord behind the smuggling of billions of pesos worth of shabu into the country.
"In the meantime, magpanggap man lang sana s'ya na galit s'ya at ipahanap kunyare 'yung drug lord na nagpasok ng P6.4 billion at P11 billion shabu shipments," he said.
"Napaghahalataan tuloy na siya nga ang nasa likod ng mga shabu shipments na ‘yan."
Duterte in September accused Trillanes' mother, Estelita, of having supply transactions with the Philippine Navy when Trillanes and his father were still in the military service.
"He (Trillanes) can be very sure na lalabas lahat 'yan," Duterte said in a speech during the groundbreaking of the Davao City Bulk Water Supply Project.
Duterte had earlier revoked the amnesty given to Trillanes for his participation in military uprisings during the Arroyo administration when he was still a Navy officer.
Trillanes is currently out on bail for his revived rebellion case before Makati Regional Trial Court Brach 150 while another Makati court, Branch 148, ruled against ordering his arrest in connection with a coup d'etat case. —KBK, GMA News
