Firecracker sellers in Bocaue, Bulacan compliant with safety regulations —PNP
Firecracker stalls in Bocaue, Bulacan remain compliant with the law mandating safety measures as well as banning the selling of certain firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices, according to the Philippine National Police.
Based on our inspection, ‘yung mga nakita natin mga tindahan are all compliant. Meron silang mga fire safety (procedures), certificates and permit,” PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said.
“Lahat sila merong fire extinguishers saka ‘yung [standby na] tubig, nakita [rin] natin,” Albayalde added.
Based on police records, the police has only been able to catch two individuals illegally manufacturing firecrackers worth P300,000.
In June 2017, President Duterte issued Executive Order 28 which limits firecracker use to community fireworks display “to minimize the risk of injuries and casualties.”
This means that community fireworks display is only allowed in a celebration, competition, or similar event held in a venue apart from a residence and should be conducted under the supervision of a trained person with license from the Philippine National Police.
As of press time, at least 32 people have suffered injuries due to firecracker use this holiday season.
Halos lahat ng regions ngayon ay naka full alert status because of the upcoming New Year celebration,” Albayalde said.
Just two days ago, a tricycle in Bocaue, Bulacan burnt to the hilt since the firecrackers which packed the vehicle exploded.
