Number of firecracker victims climbs to 55 —DOH
From 46 over the weekend, the number of firecracker victims has climbed to 55 on Monday, a Department of Health (DOH) official said in an interview on News To Go.
The tally climbed after nine more firecracker-related cases were reported, according to DOH – National Capital Region (NCR) Director Corazon Flores.
“Ayon sa latest report ng DOH, as of December 31 this morning 5:59 a.m, yung reported na kaso natin mula December 21 to December 31, meron na po tayong natalang 55 na kaso,” Flores said.
Flores said the latest record is 50 percent lower compared to the tally last year during the same period.
DOH data showed that the number of firecrackers victims has been declining year after year during the period of December 21 to January 5:

2011: 1, 021
2012: 931
2013: 1, 018
2014: 860
2015: 929
2016: 630
2017: 463
“Ayon sa datos namin ngayon, doon sa 55 na cases natin, 53 doon ay may injuries, dalawa yung ingestion," Flores said. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
