SC Justice Tijam honored a day before retirement, 70th birthday
Supreme Court Associate Justice Noel Tijam is set to retire on Saturday as he reaches the mandatory retirement age of 70.
In a ceremony attended by his family, Tijam was given several tokens representing the judiciary including the SC's flag and seal, a judicial robe, and the Philippine flag.
He was also given the Chief Justice Jose Abad Santos Award, a statuette of judicial excellence, and a plaque of recognition.
Aside from the post Tijam is vacating, the one left open by the appointment of Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin also needs to be filled in.
From the Court of Appeals, Tijam was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte to the high court in March 2017, replacing Associate Justice Arturo Brion who retired on December 29, 2016. — MDM, GMA News
