‘Middle man’ in P6.4-B shabu smuggling Kenneth Dong nabbed by NBI
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested businessman Kenneth Dong, who is accused of illegal drug importation in connection with the P6.4-billion shabu shipment smuggled from China in 2017.
NBI deputy director Ferdinand Lavin confirmed Monday that agents of the bureau's Anti-Organized and Transnational Crime Division made the arrest but could not immediately provide details.
A Manila court ordered the arrest of Dong along with Customs broker Mark Ruben Taguba II and seven other accused persons, last year.
The case is pending before Judge Rainelda Estacio-Montesa of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 46.
Dong was arrested in August 2017—three months after the massive drug shipment was discovered in Valenzuela City—for allegedly raping a businesswoman in 2016.
He was released from detention in November 2017 after the complainant desisted from pursuing the case, leading a Parañaque judge to dismiss it. —NB, GMA News
