Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has defended song and dance numbers by professional acts and even by the candidates themselves at the campaign sorties of her regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago.

The party chairperson and daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte said performances helped keep the audience attentive to what the candidates had to say about the platforms.

“That is the decision of the secretariat. Kasi hindi naman pwedeng dire-diretso ‘yung speeches ng mga candidates kasi darating talaga ‘yung panahon na hindi na maga-grasp nung mga nakikinig ‘yung sinasabi,” Sara said at the HNP campaign in Antipolo.

Regional party HNP has been going around the country to endorse 13 candidates for 12 Senate seats.

The talents at HNP sorties include Andrew E, the Sexbomb dancers and actor Enzo Pineda.

Sara last week in Quezon City sang a few lines from VST and Co.'s Awitin Mo at Isasayaw Ko.

Candidates Ronald dela Rosa and Christopher "Bong" Go also sing at campaign stops. —NB, GMA News
