NBI already has persons of interest in Fajardo abduction

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has identified persons of interest behind the kidnapping of businessman Allan Lumbres Fajardo, who used to be an assistant to slain Batangas mayor Antonio Halili.

"Meron kaming mga leads na nakuha, pero as of now,  hindi muna kami magbibigay ng information para hindi ma-prejudice ang aming investigation,” said NBI - Special Action Unit (SAU) executive director Kristine Dela Cruz.

According to John Consulta's report on Unang Balita on Wednesday, the NBI interviewed witnesses who gave information on Fajardo’s abduction on April 3 in a restaurant in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

Investigators said on the night of the abduction, Fajardo was set to meet someone at the restaurant but the person did not show up.

Investigators have already obtained CCTV footage from the restaurant that they expect to help them identify personalities involved in the kidnapping.

“Malaki ang maitutulong ng CCTV copy. Sa pamamagitan nito makikita natin kung may mahahagip tayong plaka o personalities," Dela Cruz said.

The NBI will conduct a forensic examination on Fajardo’s vehicle, which was left at the restaurant, to lift possible fingerprints.

The Laguna Police is conducting its own investigation on the kidnapping.

"We are appealing to the public, in case may info po sila, feel free to approach the Sta. Rosa Police Station or Laguna Police Provincial Office regarding the disappearance or abduction of Mr. Allan Fajardo,” said Police Colonel Eleazar Matta, Laguna Provincial Police chief. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
