Senate bets sign pledge to advance aspirations of Filipino youth

Some senatorial bets have pledged to advance aspirations of the Filipino youth by signing a "National Youth Covenant" at the University of the Philippines Diliman in Quezon City on Saturday.

The event, which was live on Facebook, was attended by Otso Diretso's Chel Diokno, Erin Tañada, Pilo Hilbay, and Samira Gutoc.

Also in participation were Partido Lakas ng Masa Leody De Guzman and Makabayan's Neri Colmenares.

By signing the pact, the 2019 senatorial candidates vowed to push for, among others, the proper implementation of the Free College Education Law, a thorough review of the K-12 program, and end the practice of unjust contractualization in the country.

According to a photo tweeted by the Kabataan Party-list, the National Youth Covenant 2019's agenda includes:

  •     Education and employment for all
  •     Youth empowerment
  •     End to discrimination
  •     Better telecommunications and internet
  •     Improved healthcare and mental health awareness
  •     Environmental preservation
  •     Respect to universal rights
