PNP to use real-time monitoring system for coming midterm polls
For the first time, the Philippine National Police will use a "real-time" monitoring system for the midterm elections on May 13.
According to a report on GMA News' Unang Balita by Cecille Villarosa on Wednesday, the National Election Monitoring Action Center (NEMAC) will house computers, television screens and two widescreens to help security forces monitor polling centers across the country.
Police personnel will be able to monitor the arrival of vote counting machines at polling centers, delivery of ballots and other election paraphernalia, the actual voting process, and the delivery of ballot boxes to the Treasurer's Office of every locality.
Situation reports to be submitted by the local police will be reflected in the said election monitoring system.
This is first time the PNP will use the system in monitoring the polls.
A total of 60 personnel will be assigned at the NEMAC led by Brigadier General Florencio Ortilla, chief of the PNP National Operations Center. —Anna Felicia Bajo/LBG/KG, GMA News
