Comelec transparency server hitch halts unofficial media counts

A hitch in the Commission on Elections transparency server has caused a halt to the unofficial count of media organizations for the 2019 midterm elections.

This includes the count in the Eleksyon 2019 results website on GMA News Online, whose last update shows only 0.38% of election returns processed as of 6:15 p.m.

According to Lei Alviz's report on 24 Oras, the Comelec's information technology department told representatives of GMA New Media that there were problems transmitting ERs to the transparency server, from which media organizations get their data.

ERs are generated by vote-counting machines (VCMs), which transmit them to the main Comelec server for the official count and to the transparency server to provide media organizations the ability to conduct an unofficial count.

Comelec director for education and information James Jimenez later told GMA News that there has been technical issues.

Comelec is reportedly working on a fix for the issue. Jimenez said he was hopeful that a solution could be found before mdinight.

The official Comelec website shows 74.45% of ERs have been received by the main server as of 8:58 p.m. —JST, GMA News
