Man driving from passenger seat will be charged, his license revoked — DOTr
The man in a viral video who drove his car while sitting in the passenger seat will face appropriate charges and have his license revoked, according to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Wednesday.
The DOTr identified the errant driver as Miko Lopez.
"Miko Lopez will be summoned to LTO [Land Transportation Office] today. He has already been identified and address was already determined. LTO will charge him for Reckless Driving, Illegal Modification (removing the steering wheel), Not Wearing Seatbelt, and Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle," the DOTr said on its Facebook page.
"His license will be revoked, and he will also be disqualified from applying for a driver's license again in the future," it added.
In the video, Lopez can be seen in the passenger seat, his left hand on the steering wheel and his left leg slung over the center console into the driver's side to manipulate the pedals. He can even be seen taking his left hand off the steering wheel to light a cigarette.
"Lahat nang bawal ginagawa ko," he declares to the man filming the video in the backseat.
