A four-year-old boy was feared dead Thursday night after falling into a creek in Manila’s Sta. Ana district late afternoon. Radio dzBB reported that as of 9 p.m., police and Coast Guard frogmen tried to search for the boy, initially identified as Buboy Provido, but to no avail. Buboy was with three playmates aged two to three, playing near the creek behind the Bagong Buhay Sports Complex along Pedro Gil Street, Sta. Ana, when he tried to catch a spider and lost his balance, falling into the water. His mother Cristina, a vendor, said she learned Buboy was missing only past 7 p.m. The incident reportedly occurred between 5:30 and 6 p.m. She said she thought Buboy, one of her four children, was playing at a nearby public playground. The dzBB report said that when Mrs Provido learned her son fell into the creek, she went to the floodway in Pandacan and asked the operators there to close the floodgates. Only the day before, a young boy jumped into the floodway in Pasig City to save his brother. He managed to rescue his younger brother but himself was lost and was feared dead. - GMANews.TV
