Duterte names Cebu City police chief Garma PCSO general manager

President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday named Police Colonel Royina Garma, Cebu City’s first female police chief, the next general manager of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).

Duterte confirmed this to reporters in Mandaluyong City where he attended the premiere night of political action thriller “KontrAdiksyon,” which tackles the country’s controversial war on drugs.

Garma succeeds former military official Alexander Balutan, who resigned in March amid corruption allegations. She has been in the police service for more than two decades.

Duterte’s spokesperson Salvador Panelo on March 8 said Balutan was fired by the President only to clarify three days later that the former PCSO official filed a resignation letter with the Office of the President which received it after the announcement on the firing was made.

Panelo said Balutan resigned "out of delicadeza" due to the corruption allegations. —NB, GMA News
