Tito Sotto says Senate performance behind high approval rating
Senate President Vicente Sotto III on Wednesday attributed to the performance of the Senate the high approval ratings he received according to the results of the latest Pulse Asia survey.
In a statement, Sotto said he was "humbled" by the public's support.
"The latest survey is a reflection not on my leadership but the institution which I serve. We, at the Senate, dispense our duties not for the sake of high or good ratings but with our mandate and public interest in mind," Sotto said.
"What I can assure, under my leadership, is that the Senate will continue to strive and focus on our legislative work," he added.
The results of the June 2019 Pulse Asia survey showed that Sotto got an approval rating of 77%.
Only 7% of the respondents disapproved of Sotto's performance, while 16% were undecided.
The survey also revealed that President Rodrigo Duterte is the most trusted top government official in the country, with an 85% trust and approval rating. —NB, GMA News
