Navy welcomes BRP Conrado Yap acquired from SoKor
The Philippine Navy on Tuesday afternoon formally welcomed the BRP Conrado Yap, a warship acquired from South Korea.
The Navy believes that the former Pohang-class corvette, touted as the nation’s “most powerful ship,” will strengthen its capability in patrolling and safeguarding the nation's waters and territorial limits.
It will also boost the Navy’s anti-submarine warfare capability.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff General Benjamin Madrigal Jr., and Navy chief Vice Admiral Robert Empedrad graced the welcome ceremony.
The warship is docked in Manila South Harbor on Sunday.
In a report by the Philippine News Agency, Lorenzana said that the warship was named after Captain Conrado Yap, a member of the 10th Battalion Combat Team who was killed in the Korean War in 1951. — BM, GMA News
