Suspects in radioman Dizon slay charged in court –Palace task force

Murder charges have been filed in court against three people over the July killing of Kidapawan City radio broadcaster Eduardo Dizon, according to Malacañang's media task force .

The Presidential Task Force on Media Security said the Kidapawan City Prosecutor’s Office filed the case on Wednesday against Junell Jane Andagkit Poten alias Junell Gerozaga; Sotero Jacolbe, Jr. alias Jun Jacolbe; and Dante Encarnacion Tabusares alias Bong Encarnacion.

In resolving to file charges in court, Prosecutor Mariam April Mastura-Linsangan relied on the statements of Dizon’s wife Madonna, Gerozaga (the alleged gunman), and other witnesses.

Mastura-Linsangan did not include another respondent, Hilario Lapi, Jr., in the information filed in court following his admission to the Department of Justice’s Witness Protection Program. Lapi was a respondent during the preliminary investigation for acting as lookout during the commission of the crime.

Dizon, radio commentator of Brigada News FM, was shot dead in Kidapawan City on the night of July 10.

Lapi said in August that he allegedly heard Tabusares, media coordinator of Kapa Community Ministry International, Inc. for North Cotabato, in a meeting ordering the killing of Dizon, who was known for his adverse commentaries against the group that is currently embroiled in an alleged investment scam.

“It’s a cliché that the wheels of justice grind exceedingly slow, but this Dizon murder case is an exception,” said Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, who is also the co-chairperson of the PTFoMS.

“For the nth time, the Duterte government has proven that we will be relentless in  pursuing the perpetrators behind media violence,” Andanar added. —LBG, GMA News
