Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Oscar Albayalde on Friday revealed that the issue on the "ninja cops" has already been taking its toll even on his children.

“When you hit the father, the children will suffer... right now my children are bleeding. They could not understand especially my youngest, sabi niya, ‘Why as if daddy is against the world?’ Di mo ma-explain because di pa niya masyadong maintindihan,” Albayalde told reporters in Silang, Cavite.

According to Albayalde, he is having a hard time explaining the situation to their children, especially their youngest daughter, who is in high school.

The PNP chief said his children know that he's been working hard as PNP chief, especially on the government campaign against illegal drugs as well as the efforts to clean the PNP's ranks.

“Kung minsan di ko na sinasagot. I just let my wife answer pero kasi we only talk on Viber. Talagang masakit sa kanya kasi umiiyak, she’s my only daughter and she’s the youngest,” he said.

“They know for a fact that I work hard, binigay ko lahat lahat dito sa war on drugs and especially so in internal cleansing... then all of a sudden, after six years? That is what she cannot understand,” Albayalde said.

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong Jr. had implicated the PNP chief in the ninja cops controversy. Albayalde was the provincial director of Pampanga when a supposed drug recycling scheme by his subordinates happened in the province.

Meanwhile, then Police Regional Office 3 chief Aaron Aquino earlier said Albayalde had supposedly told him to hold off the implementation of the dismissal order against the 13 cops, who are currently under floating status.

Also, former Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) deputy director for operations Rudy Lacadin claimed also in a Senate hearing that Albayalde told him that the latter only got "a small portion" from the anti-drugs operation.

Albayalde has maintained innocence over the issue, noting that there was no hard evidence to prove his alleged involvement in the drug raid in Pampanga. — MDM, GMA News
