At least three major earthquakes struck southern Philippines last month. On October 16, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake jolted parts of Mindanao region.

On October 29, a magnitude 6.6 earthquake, which was tectonic in origin, again struck Tulunan, North Cotabato.

Two days later, a magnitude 6.5 earthquake hit again some areas in the region, which resulted in the collapse of a hotel in Kidapawan City and a portion of a condominium in Davao City.

According to the NDRRMC, the number of individuals who had died following the three powerful tremors has reached 28 while more than 400 people have been injured.

The council also said the strong earthquakes affected a total of 46,250 families or 231,250 individuals from 251 barangays in Regions XI and XII. — BAP, GMA News
