President Rodrigo Duterte has reorganized the government body tasked to reduce the country’s vulnerability to online threats.

Signed on November 15, Executive Order 95 made changes to the composition of the National Cybersecurity Inter-Agency Committee (NCIAC), which was created in 2015.

The body is still chaired by the Executive Secretary with the Secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology and Director General of the National Security Council as co-chairs.

The Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology, however, is no longer a a co-chair but still a member of the body.

Other members include the Executive Director of the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center, the secretaries of the Department of Transportation and the Presidential Communications Operations Office and the Governor of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

The NCIAC is mandated to assess the vulnerabilities and risks of the country’s cybersecurity, issue updated security protocols to all government employees and enhance the public-private partnership to deter cyberattacks, minimize cyber risks and increase cyber resiliency.

The EO, which was made public by Malacañang on Wednesday, took effect immediately. —NB, GMA News
