Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile on Monday threatened to charge Sen. Jamby Madrigal before the Senate ethics committee over her allegations that a television reporter was under his monthly payroll. Enrile vehemently denied his office was been giving monthly bribe money to ABS-CBN reporter Lynda Jumilla-Abalos in exchange for favorable television news coverage of his activities and public statements. “I will take her to the ethics committee and establish the truth of what she said. I think this is an unethical conduct for any member of Congress against a colleague," he said. Enrile insisted he has never paid any reporter. The senator said he would not hesitate to file a complaint for unethical conduct against Madrigal for her statements against Jumilla with the Senate ethics committee. Jumilla also wrote Madrigal warning her against repeating her allegations that she has was giving her negative news coverage because she was on Enrile’s monthly “payola". The reporter called Madrigal’s allegations “baseless" and threatened to file charges against Madrigal before the Senate ethics panel and a libel suit before the courts.-GMANews.TV
