Typhoon Tisoy raised the levels of the two dams that supply most of Metro Manila's water needs, but not enough for them to reach their normal high water levels.

The water level in Angat Dam rose 4.5 meters from 188.97 meters on Tuesday to 193.47 meters on Wednesday, according to GMA's resident meteorologist Nathaniel Cruz.

Cruz had earlier forecast that the typhoon would raise the dam's water level by three to five meters.

However, despite the increase, the water level still did not reach Angat Dam's normal high water level of 212.00 meters.

Meanwhile, La Mesa Dam's water level increased to 77.55 meters on Wednesday from 77.42 meters on Tuesday.

It also did not reach its normal high water level of 80.15 meters.

The two dams supply 96% of the National Capital Region's water needs.

While Tisoy will no longer affect the country, the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan is expected to bring rain over Cordillera and Cagayan on Thursday.

Meanwhile, moderate rain is expected over the rest of Luzon, Western Visayas, Zamboanga, and Soccsksargen.

Gale warnings are raised over Ilocos, Zambales, Bataan, Cagayan, Aurora, Quezon, Bicol, Mindoro, and Palawan.

Tisoy is expected to exit the Philippine Area of responsibility between Wednesday evening and Thursday.

Tisoy's death toll has climbed to at least 13 people from Regions V, VIII, CALABARZON and MIMAROPA. — Joahna Lei Casilao/BM, GMA News
