The Philippine National Police on Sunday morning started to implement its full alert status to ensure the safety of the public as they celebrate the Christmas and New Year occasions.
Interviewed on Dobol B sa News TV, PNP spokesperson Brigadier General Bernard Banac said that the high alert will last until January 5 next year.
“Naka-full alert na lahat po ang ating pulis sa ating hanay…mula sa ating pagdiriwang ng Pasko hanggang sa Bagong Taon ay kinakailangan na may maximum presence ang ating kapulisan,” he said.
On Saturday afternoon, Banac said the PNP will be placed on full alert by 6 a.m. Sunday.
Likewise, Banac said no security threat for season has been monitored so far, but more police should be visible to make the public feel safe to go out and celebrate during the holiday season.
At least 69, 300 police personnel will be stationed in airports, terminals, seaports, and malls. The PNP also advised church leaders of security measures needed at the entrance of their buildings. —Joviland Rita/LBG, GMA News
