195 cities, municipalities across PHL have firecracker ban —BFP
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said it is working closely with communities to enhance response to fire incidents this holiday season, noting that 195 cities and municipalities across the country have already enforced a firecracker ban.
Interviewed on Balitanghali on Monday, BFP spokesperson Geranndie Agonos said that they have various community initiatives to ensure the safety of the public as they welcome the new year.
“Marami na po ang na-designate na Community Fireworks Display Area under Executive Order 28 kung saan ‘yun lamang po ang lugar na pinapayagan ng batas kung saan pwede magpaputok ng firecrackers at magpailaw ng pyrotechnics,” he said.
Agonos added that they have established Community Fire Auxilliary Groups that will help firemen respond to accidents.
Meanwhile, under “Oplan Ligtas na Pamayanan,” residents can inform the BFP of hazards in their neighborhood.
Agonos also reminded the public to exercise caution when purchasing firecrackers.
“Tiyakin po ninyo na 'yan po ay merong label. Kasi kung walang label… anumang insidente gamit 'yan ay wala tayong habol sa pinagbilhan,” he said.
The BFP assured the public that they are on Code Red, meaning all firefighters are ready to respond in case of mishaps, from December 23, 2019 until January 2, 2020. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
