PNP to probe unauthorized furlough of Nova Parojinog
The Philippine National Police (PNP) will look into the reported unauthorized furlough of former Ozamiz City vice mayor Nova Princess Parojinog who is facing drug charges.
"We will look into that kasi when I was the chief directorial staff, it's only the TCDS who can actually allow visitors," said PNP officer-in-charge Police Lieutenant General Archie Francisco Gamboa at a press briefing on Tuesday.
"Now they can only get out from the custodial center if there is a court order, not even sa hospital," he added. "Hindi puwedeng at the discretion of the custodial..."
The Quezon City Regional Trial Court has ordered the warden of the PNP Custodial Center to explain why Parojinog was allowed to leave detention on November 12, 2018 even without the court's permission.
The court had given the PNP Custodial Center warden as well as Parojinog's legal counsel five days to explain why they should not be cited in contempt.
According to the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 228, Parojinog did not seek permission from the court where she is charged with possession of illegal drugs.
Nova Princess and her brother Reynaldo Jr. were arrested during a 2017 police raid which killed their father, Ozamiz City mayor Reynaldo Parojinog, Sr., his wife, and 13 others.
President Rodrigo Duterte had accused the Parojinog family of involvement in the illegal drug trade. —KBK, GMA News
