Duterte gets record-high satisfaction rating in Q4 2019 SWS survey

Three years and a half in office, President Rodrigo Duterte received a personal record-high satisfaction rating of +72 in the Fourth Quarter 2019 Social Weather Survey.

Duterte's net satisfaction rating of +72 (82% satisfied, 10% dissatisfied), was classified as excellent by the Social Weather Stations (SWS).

His net satisfaction rating in the September 2019 survey was 65%.  It was highest in June 2019 at 68%.

Meanwhile, the survey also showed that 52% of the respondents expect Duterte to fulfil all or nearly all/most of his promises.

The survey asked, "Sa inyong palagay, ilan sa mga pangako ni Pang. Rody Duterte ang posibleng matutupad? [Lahat o halos lahat sa mga pangako, Karamihan sa mga pangako, Mga ilan sa mga pangako, Halos wala o wala sa mga pangako] (In your opinion, how many of the promises of Pres. Rody Duterte can be fulfilled? [All or nearly all of the promises, Most of the promises, A few of the promises, Almost none or none of the promises])".

To the question, 16% replied all or nearly all, 36% answered most, 42% answered a few, and 5% answered none or almost none.

The 52% who expect that Duterte will fulfil his promises was 4 points higher than the 48% who answered in December 2018.

The response fell to a personal record-low of 35% in September 2017, just after Duterte’s one-year mark in office, before recovering to 46% in March 2018, 48% in December 2018, and 52% in December 2019.

Net satisfaction up in Mindanao, Visayas

The 7-point increase in the President’s net satisfaction rating from September 2019 to December 2019 was due to increases in Balance Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao, combined with a steady score in Metro Manila, according to the polling firm.

Duterte’s net satisfaction rating stayed very good in Balance Luzon, at a new record +66 in December 2019, up by 12 points from +54 in September 2019. This surpassed the previous record very good +65 in June 2019.

In Mindanao, satisfaction rating was at +81 in December, up by 5 points from +76 in September.

It stayed excellent in the Visayas, at a new record +79 in December, up by 4 points from the previous record +75 in September.

It stayed at the record very good +66 in Metro Manila from September 2019 to December 2019. —LDF, GMA News
