Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Felimon Santos Jr. was promoted to the rank of General, the AFP’s Public Affairs Office announced.
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana donned the new rank on Santos in a ceremony at the Department of National Defense in Camp Aguinaldo on Monday.

President Rodrigo Duterte approved Santos' ad interim appointment effective January 14. Santos assumed his post as the 53rd AFP Chief of Staff on January 4 replacing General Noel Clement.
Santos’ family and senior military officers led by AFP Vice Chief of Staff, Vice Admiral Gaudencio Collado, were present in the ceremony.
