DILG: 14-day quarantine on travelers from over 20 countries a hoax

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has denied that it has imposed a 14-day quarantine on travelers from over 20 countries with confirmed cases of novel coronavirus infection.

The infographic with false information has been shared on social media.

"We would like to clarify that the said infographic was not issued by this Department and that our policy," the DILG said in a statement.

"As of today... the strict implementation of the 14-day quarantine provided in DILG Memo Circular 2020-023 (Amended Guide to Action against the 2019 Novel Coronavirus) refers only to travelers from China, Hong Kong and Macau," it added.

The DILG said travelers from other nCoV-affected countries may undergo voluntary quarantine.

It reminded the public to follow announcements and advisories from the official DILG website (www.dilg.gov.ph) and official DILG social media accounts (DILG Philippines).

On Friday, the Department of Health has recorded 215 persons under investigation (PUIs), including the three confirmed nCoV cases, 57 patients who tested negative, and others who were waiting for their lab results. —NB, GMA News
