Each repatriate gets their own room in New Clark City’s Athletes’ Village —DOH

Each Filipino repatriated from China amid the 2019 novel coronavirus outbreak will get his or her own room at the Athletes' Village in New Clark City to contain the possible spread of the virus, the Department of Health (DOH) has said.

According to a 24 Oras report by JP Soriano on Monday, the quarantine facilities at the complex in Capas, Tarlac are comfortable and offer many amenities.

“One repatriate, one room. Puwera na lang kung pamilya, mag-asawa, then there are provisions for that lalo na kung may bata,” Health Undersecretary Gerardo Bayugo said. "May aircon, may refrigerator, may TV, one per room, maganda 'yung banyo, solo niya."

The repatriates will also be allowed to go outside their rooms by batch, while their food will be served to them on a table along the hallway.

"The movement of the quarantined people shall be limited to the building only," Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said in an earlier press conference.

The rooms also offer WiFi access.

“Primarily to contact the family, hindi 'yung mag-post ng ganito, magreklamo ng ganito,” Bayugo said.

The repatriates will also be strictly monitored by authorities.

The DOH said all persons quarantined are still asymptomatic or not showing any symptoms of the 2019 novel coronavirus.

“Paolo,” one of the 30 Filipinos repatriated from China, said they are being well taken care of inside the quarantine facility.

“Ang ganda po ng accommodation namin. Ang ganda po ng tulugan namin dito, [may] safety tapos may aircon,” he told GMA News.

The Athletes' Village not too long ago accommodated the athletes competing in the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

Over 300 people are under investigation for possible novel coronavirus infection as of Monday noon, the DOH said. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
