‘Isda-on-the-go’ offers budget-friendly fish, seafood
The Department of Agriculture on Monday launched the "Isda-on-the-go" program which offers fish and various seafood products at an affordable price.
According to Bhea Docyogen's "Stand for Truth" report on Tuesday, Philippine Fisheries Development Authority general manager Glen Pangapalan said the project aims to offer the public affordable supply of fish and other seafood products.
"Ang aim nito ay magkaroon tayo ng sapat na supply ng isda at tamang presyo on a barangay level," he said.
The PFDA said fishes sold at the "Isda-on-the-go" stalls are cheaper because they come directly from fishports.
"Ang presyo diyan, usually ay hindi naman ganoon kamahal pero 'yong price nila nasa less than 100 but pagdating doon sa mga public markets natin ay nagkakaroon na ng more than 100% 'yong increase," Pangapalan said.
Currently, "Isda-on-the-go" has stalls in Antipolo City, Waltermart Malls and in Quezon City.
The PFDA said they are planning to open more stalls in different parts of the country.
The Philippines is the world's second largest archipelagic state, the reason the country is rich in various kinds of fish.
With the prices of fish going up in the market due to calamities, the "Isda-on-the-go" project is a big help for people with a tight budget. —Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
