Mindanao’s first 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) case has no travel history, a report on Unang Balita said Thursday.

Citing information from the Northern Mindanao Medical Center, the report said the case was a 54-year-old male.

Also, the report said the patient began showing symptoms of the disease last February 24.

He is the 40th COVID-19 case in the Philippines.

Elsewhere in a private hospital in the Visayas, one of the more than 40 China coronavirus cases in the Philippines was confirmed by medical authorities.

According to the report, the patient is now in critical condition due to difficulty in breathing.

A provincial health official was quoted in the report as saying that the patient had gone home to Dumaguete City on March 1, 2020 after attending a convention in the National Capital Region. —LBG, GMA News
